Town & Gown District
The Town & Gown District is envisioned as the social interface between the Campus and University Community.
As the center of commercial activity, the district will not only include public venues such as a performing arts center and an arena, but will also include mixed-use development such as retail amenities and high density housing.
Modeled after the famous “Las Ramblas,” an iconic boulevard located in Catalunya's capital city of Barcelona, Spain, the Town and Gown District's streetscape mimics the generously designed pedestrian-oriented boulevard and will showcase a central pedestrian promenade reminiscent of one of Europe's greatest public spaces.
The image on the left depicts the Town and Gown District’s eastern end. The terminus of Main Street 4.0 is a bridge crossing into the eastern end of the Town and Gown District.
